Do You still Like Me (60 seconds)
MAN:
Let's play a game. Let's pretend, for a moment, you own an apartment building and I want to rent from you. I have a steady job, I make a good salary and have a good credit history. Would you rent your place to me? How about now? Do you still like me, or have your opinions changed? What if I have an accent, or a last name that sounds foreign? What if I have a disability? What if I'm a single parent? Would you steer me away? Would you close the door?...Would you?
VO:

Todavía te agrado, o ha cambiado tu opinión?

Phone (English Translation)
Scene Setup: Two people on a phone conversation in target language. Person 1 has a slight English accent and should be perceived as second generation. Person 2 speaks the target language fluently and should be perceived as first generation. We listen.
Father:(Ring) Hello
Older Child: Hi Dad its (name of child). I just walked by that house you looked at, It's really nice! It's so close to your job and the school that you want to send (other name) to. Did you know there is still a For Rent sign in the window?
Father: That's strange. I filled out an application and followed up yesterday. They told me the house was rented a week ago. [pause] Maybe they just didn't want to rent to us.
Older Child: You know Dad, it's illegal/against the law to discriminate against someone because they have an accent or because of what country they are from.
Father: Maybe so, but that's the way it goes/c'est la vie/whatever! (or other appropriate colloquialism)
Older Child: I just learned about housing discrimination at school. I know there are organizations that have helped thousands of people move into the neighborhoods of their choice. If we report this, and they find out that this was discrimination, then we might be able to move into that house after all.
Father: Well we have to be out of this apartment in three weeks and that house was perfect for us. I guess it's worth a try.
Announcer: read in an affirming tone that addresses the situation just played out Housing discrimination is illegal.
